Homemade Cobbler

This homemade cobbler is just like Grandma used to make. It's quick, versatile and absolutely delicious for any season!

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup butter 1 stick, 113 grams
  • 3 cups fruit suggestions include strawberries, blueberries, peaches, apples
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar 300 grams, divided
  • 1 cup flour 120 grams
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk 240 grams
  • 1 tsp vanilla 5 grams

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350° F
  2. Put butter (1/2 cup/113 grams) in baking dish and place in preheated oven to melt for 6-8 minutes, keeping an eye on it to make sure the butter doesn't burn
  3. Mix fruit (3 cups) with 1/4 cup (50 grams) of sugar and set aside
  4. Whisk together flour (1 cup/120 grams), baking powder (1 1/2 tsp), salt (1/2 tsp), remaining sugar (1 1/4 cup/250 grams), milk (1 cup/240 grams) and vanilla (1 tsp/5 grams). Mix until just combined, you don't want to over mix.
  5. Once butter is melted remove from the oven. Pour flour mixture over melted butter (DON'T STIR), then top evenly with fruit (DON'T STIR).
  6. Bake at 350° for 45 minutes.
  7. Remove your homemade cobbler from the oven and allow it to rest for 15-20 minutes before serving.

Notes

If doubling this recipe add an additional 10 minutes to the baking time. Check the middle of the cobbler topping with a toothpick to ensure it's done.
