Total Time 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter 57 g
  • 1/2 cup sugar 100 g
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips 85 g
  • 3/4 cup cream 175 g
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Equipment

  • Heavy bottom saucepan
  • Jars for storing

Method

  1. In your pot over medium heat, melt your butter (1/4 cup, 57 g) and once melted add in your sugar (1/2 cup, 100 g). Simmer the butter and sugar together until it begins to bubble. It is important not to let the butter and sugar begin to caramelize.
  2. Stir in cocoa powder (1/3 cup) and chocolate chips (1/2 cup, 85 g) to the butter and sugar. Whisk until chocolate chips are completely melted.
  3. Remove your saucepan from the heat and slowly begin to stir in your cream (3/4 cup, 175 g). Stir it in about 1/4 cup at a time, whisking well between each batch. Whisk in your salt (1/4 tsp) and transfer your homemade chocolate sauce to a glass jar to cool. Store in the fridge for up to a week. Warm slightly in the microwave or on the stove before serving and enjoy!

Notes

  • Watch your butter and sugar carefully so that it doesn't burn.
  • Slowly add in your cream as it may bubble when it comes in contact with the warm chocolate mixture.
  • Warm the sauce slightly before serving as it becomes pretty thick when refrigerated.
